The 1st MIDPREP workshop "Technology meets science exchange session" will take place on March 31 and April 1 at ASTRON in Dwingeloo, the Netherlands.

The 1st MIDPREP workshop "Technology meets science exchange session" will take place on March 31 and April 1 at ASTRON in Dwingeloo, the Netherlands. The meeting will be open to all MIDPREP participants and others. The aim is to maximize interaction between participants through open platform discussions and presentations.

MIDPREP is an exchange project between two European Institutes (Chalmers and ASTRON) and three South African Partners (University of Stellenbosch, Rhodes University, University of CapeTown). MIDPREP wants to strengthen the relevant research projects, through exchange of experienced and early-stage radio scientists and engineers between South African institutes to and from Sweden and the Netherlands. Through that, MIDPREP aims at a common design view on site related aspects for radio telescopes, to advance radio-optics, calibration, ICT, processing and technology views and (possibly “green”) designs on MID-SKA centred in the Karoo.

 

We expect that the outcome of this workshop will contribute to an increase in science and technology relations between Europe and Africa.

 

The workshop is organized in conjunction with the AAMID consortium meeting on 1-2 April, 2014 at ASTRON.
